The eight classes

Every class ends with something exported, screenshotted and written up. By week eight that is a portfolio, not a certificate you have to be taken at your word about.

1. Class 1

   Getting started with n8n

   You build your first workflow: a manual trigger, a step that creates a simple profile, and a step that formats a confirmation message.

   After it, you can open n8n, explain what you are looking at, build and run something, and export proof of it.

   Proof: workflow JSON, screenshots, and notes explaining what it does

2. Class 2

   Triggers and data

   An intake flow that captures name, email, experience level and goal, normalises the fields, then builds a summary with expressions.

   After it, you can tell what starts a workflow, read the data it delivers, and reference that data correctly further down.

3. Class 3

   Connecting apps

   You take the intake data and append it to a Google Sheet, then read the rows back to confirm it actually landed.

   After it, you can connect a real application with a stored credential and verify the result rather than assuming it.

4. Class 4

   Working with APIs

   An external lookup: call a public API, read the status code and the JSON, pull values out of nested data, and combine them with your intake data.

   After it, you can make a request, understand what came back, and get the part you need out of it.

5. Class 5

   Logic and branching

   Routing: an IF that sends beginners and non-beginners different ways, extended to a three-way Switch on what the person wants to build.

   After it, you can design decision paths — and you treat an untested branch as broken until you have run it.

6. Class 6

   Error handling

   You break the Class 4 lookup on purpose, then make it survive: retries, an error branch, and a separate handler workflow that catches failures.

   After it, you can say what happens when a workflow fails — because you have watched yours fail and handled it.

7. Class 7

   AI-powered automation

   An AI step inside a controlled workflow: send an application to a free model, get back a short summary and a category as structured JSON.

   After it, you can add AI where it genuinely helps, ask for output you can rely on, and check what comes back.

8. Class 8

   Capstone

   One pipeline that uses the lot: an intake trigger, data shaping, an external lookup or app logging, an AI summary, and error handling that holds.

   After it, you have a complete beginner automation that survives failure and that you can explain in ninety seconds.

   Proof: final export plus the error handler, screenshots of two test cases including one handled failure, and a written explanation
